Casual reminder that in one of Leonardo da Vinci’s many notebooks containing innumerable artistic and scientific sketches and notes of incomprehensible importance, there is a sketch of two penises with legs and tails walking towards a crudely drawn anus.
The sketch was most likely done by Leonardo’s apprentice Salai, who was not only very likely one of Leonardo’s lovers, but who was also infamously mischievous. Better yet, the anus is literally labeled “Salai.”
So either Salai drew these while Leonardo wasn’t looking just to annoy his boyfriend, or Leonardo himself put actual time and energy into drawing these. Either way, the human race is truly blessed to have made such a discovery.
There are dick drawings like the ones you see on desks in school in Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks. Please cherish this information.
In the midst of exploring Renaissance Italy history for reasons, I have found a wonder.
Even the best artists can be immature or get their sketchbooks stolen and have penis’ drawn all over them. Humanity has never been more fascinated by anything on this Earth more than with drawings of crude-looking male genitalia. I am ok with this.
The Forest God
Please listen to this with music I composed.
Please don’t remove credits on my art, thank you.

How about citing the EXTREMELY obvious inspiration source? Hm? If plagiarism is defined as 3 consecutive “same” words, I think this wayyy counts in terms of art. In the very least tag where you got the inspiration from. It’s the least you can do.
How about be a little less rude about this? I cite my inspirations on my deviantart, and I don’t like talk too much on my posts on tumblr since they tend to get removed a lot when I do. Anyways, I apologize (not to you, but to my followers) for not saying the stag was inspired by miyazaki, but I don’t think not doing so warranted this kind of response or this type of attitude.
I didn’t mean it as a personal attack on you, per ce. I write, and my work has been stolen in the past and it’s a physical and mental nightmare. There is a reason it’s so strict, and I don’t think calling you out on it is rude. Do fellow artists a favor and just cite, and if the cycle continues people will some day cite you as an inspiration/source.
"calling me out" in a rude way, especially with that added little story about your art being stolen, is rude because I’m not stealing anything.
Stealing art and being inspired by something are two completely different things, and it’s frankly ridiculous you think those two things are anywhere NEAR the same thing, especially since I was only inspired by the concept of a forest god, and it looks nowhere near Miyazaki’s actual forest god. Not to mention, Miyazaki himself was inspired by old Japanese folk tales when it comes to his old forest gods from Mononoke.
Everyone draws inspiration from somewhere, and unless you’re coming up with a completely new way of abstract art, every single drawing that are coming out is inspired by something or someone. Yes, even yours art. To compare being inspired to art theft is just so ridiculous I have no better words to describe this.
Anyways, in terms of inspiration, unless the final product looks just like the inspiration, whether citation is needed or not is debatable, since there are so many works out there that looks like each other without citation. Actually, I’ve seen a lot of work that looks like my old ones, some so close they’re the same concept with the same pose, but I don’t get my panties in a twist because 1. coincidences happen and 2. not all inspiration needs citation, although it’s respectful when you do cite it. and 3. everyone inspires each other anyways.
This is probably not super current, but it’s a good example of “when tumblr artists/advocates get out of control”. Where people don’t have their definitions straight. Being inspired and deviating and MAKING SOMETHING OUT OF THAT INSPIRATION that isn’t direct tracing is NOT the same as “art theft”. We should all be screaming bloody murder then on every single show since they all were “stealing” from someone somewhere. If I remember correctly, unless its parody work (which needs its citations as is good practice) there’s no need to get on some made-up “artist defender” soapbox and blast someone for feeling inspired by someone’s work to create something IN THEIR OWN STYLE or in a style they’re known for.
FWIW, I honestly didn’t even see Miyazaki in it until someone said something, but that’s just me as I probably wasn’t paying attention in that particular film. (I sometimes start dozing off watching his films since they’re so visually relaxing but I digress)
Moar potential NSFW bait means more succubus Zapphy. I want to make her more curvy and delicious but “realistically” so, aka no Titan sized er…twin peaks? Id like to keep her within a healthy D to DDD at worst :3 #sketches #sketchbook #sketchesoninstagram #myart #mysketches #mycharacters #potentiallynsfw #sortansfw #zapphy
I’ve received a lot of letters from artists asking to check out their artwork and their blog, and I’ve noticed that a lot of them openly write unhealthy amounts of negative comments about their artwork, it was super depressing, honestly. :(
Confidence plays a very very important role as an artist, it’s what helps us learn and grow without the constant feeling of doubt and jealousy! You are a unique individual who must go down your own unique path, and as scary as it sounds, you can’t rely on others to hold your hand all the way through. You are the only one who can get yourself to where you need to go, and beating up your artwork is not the way! Trust yourself and your abilities to make a change, and you can do anything!!
Love your art, love yourself!
